Baptisms this week!

Come join us Sunday night for the baptism of four of our brothers and sisters.  As usual with this, we’ll be squeezed in tight with friends and family, so look forward to an exciting and rousing time of worship.  (Do people still say rousing?  I just felt old…)

See you Sunday!

After a couple special weeks (Threefold communion and Easter Sunday), Grace @ Night is back to it’s normal, awesome self this Sunday at 6 pm. Kids Clubhouse is back, too, so we’re running at full speed. See you then!

Resources for those needing help with intimacy and sexuality

On Sunday we talked about 1 Corinthians 5, and the potential for intimacy in sexuality, as well as the tragedy of sexual immorality. At the end of the night, I promised some links to resources for next steps.

Below I’ve listed some books, counseling ministries, and websites that I’ve come across and found helpful. Ultimately, it is God and His Spirit that produce change in your heart, so that you might live in harmony with God’s Word and how you were created to live. That being said, these things can be helpful in knowing God’s grace.

Pursuing Jesus

It’s rare that I am moved by a promo video for a conference (especially a conference I’m not even going to), but I thought this one was terrific.

Memorizing Scripture

This week’s memory verse was 1 Corinthians 6:11, “But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.”

Also, if you’re interested in memorizing Scripture using your iPod, check out this link for how to get audio tracks of verses for free (yes, it’s legal and approved by the publisher).

Coming up Sunday…

This Sunday I get a chance to talk about two things that make me uncomfortable:

1. Sex

2. Confrontation

Awesome!  Gotta love 1 Corinthians 5!

Let me be honest, this week has been wrecking me.  God’s Word is challenging!  Even so, I’m excited to share with you what God’s Word says.  I honestly believe that if we as a church were to live out what Paul says in this passage, it would make a huge difference in us and our community.

On a different note, this Sunday is the start of Kids Clubhouse.  Bring the kids to this!  Don’t worry, they won’t be talking about sex OR confrontation. They WILL have an awesome time, though.

Please pray for this Sunday.  I’m convinced that the next few weeks are going to be pivotal for us as a community, and provide a great chance to reach people with the gospel.

- Bob

PS. Remember the memory verse?  “Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful.” 1 Corinthians 4:2

Spiritual Health Survey

Thanks to everyone who has completed our church’s spiritual health survey.  We really appreciate all your input!  If you haven’t done it yet, here’s a link.  It’s totally anonymous, but VERY helpful for us.

To be honest, we’re slacking as G@N in terms of filling out the survey, compared to the other services.  I want to show our church leadership that you guys love Jesus and are committed to what we’re doing; help me out!

Baptisms this Sunday night

Travis and I just got done planning this Sunday’s G@N service, and I’m excited. I LOVE when we do baptisms, and Sunday’s one of those days.

Also, I’m going to lay out the vision a bit more for Kids Clubhouse. We desperately need to be paying for our brothers and sisters leading this; they’re on the front lines, leading kids to Christ. I’m so proud of you guys!
